Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) comprises the two Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao, and nine municipalities in Guangdong Province, namely Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing, with a total area of about 56,000 square kilometres. According to the latest data provided by the governments of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, the total population of the GBA has exceeded 88 million, and the regional gross domestic product (GDP) has exceeded RMB 15 trillion.

The development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is a major development strategy in the country''s reform and opening up in the new era, and is of great significance to the country''s implementation of innovation-driven development and adherence to reform and opening up. The goal is to further deepen cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, fully leverage the comprehensive advantages of the three places, promote deep integration within the region, drive regional economic synergy, and build an international first-class bay area ideal for living, working and travelling.
