Dongguan City

Dongguan City, abbreviated as ""Guan"", is a prefecture-level city located in south-central Guangdong Province, on the eastern bank of the Pearl River estuary. It sits in the geographical heart of the GBA and along the middle section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Corridor. Bordering Shenzhen to the south and Guangzhou to the west, it is globally celebrated as the ""World Factory"". The city extends over an area of 2,460 square kilometres. By the end of 2025, Dongguan's permanent population reached approximately 10.80 million. In 2025, the city generated a gross domestic product (GDP) of RMB 1,276.02 billion, showing a steady growth of 4.0%, with a per capita GDP of about RMB 120,000. Dongguan stands as a major nationwide advanced manufacturing center, anchoring global electronic information infrastructure, automated machinery, and precision manufacturing equipment.
