Zhongshan City

Zhongshan City, abbreviated as ""Zhong"" and historically referred to as ""Xiangshan"", is a prefecture-level city in south-central Guangdong Province, occupying the central sector of the Pearl River Delta. It faces Shenzhen across the water, borders Zhuhai to the south, and adjoins Guangzhou to the north. It is famously celebrated as the birthplace of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, and serves as an important advanced manufacturing hub on the west bank of the Pearl River. The total area is 1,781 square kilometres. By the end of 2025, Zhongshan's permanent population was approximately 4.57 million. In 2025, the city achieved a gross domestic product (GDP) of around RMB 430 billion, with a per capita GDP of about RMB 100,000. Zhongshan is a designated pilot city for industrial cluster upgrading in Guangdong, boasting formidable market positions in smart equipment manufacturing, household appliances, lighting fixtures, hardware products, and health/biomedicine.
