Foshan City

Foshan City, abbreviated as ""Fo"" and colloquially termed ""Chan City"", is a prefecture-level city in south-central Guangdong Province, nestled in the belly of the Pearl River Delta. It is bordered by Guangzhou to the east and sits close to Hong Kong and Macao, within a two-hour drive from both. It stands as an indispensable node city in the GBA and a vital core element of the ""Guangzhou-Foshan Metropolis Zone"". The total area of the city is 3,798 square kilometres. By the end of 2025, Foshan's permanent population stabilized around 9.79 million. In 2025, the city realized a gross domestic product (GDP) of approximately RMB 1.3 trillion, with a per capita GDP of about RMB 140,000. Foshan serves as a nationwide advanced manufacturing center, globally renowned for its traditional dominance in household appliances, ceramics, furniture, textiles, and automotive machinery parts.
